Divine Hand Carvings
Life began with the sea, and so did Divine Stone Carvings, as this Fish was one of my first pieces carved in Soapstone.
Alabaster is a special stone as it white in colour and white increases the aura and signifies light. Here I have carved a man in platform pose.
On this piece I hand carved Two Swans carved in limestone.
I am interested in the effect of movement and prayer on the body, which inspired this hand carved Woman "bow pose" created in limestone.
Stones have existed for millions of years and sometime they have inclusions, like sea creatures, that have been fossilised.
This is Lincolnshire Cathedral stone and the creatures inside the stone are around 2 million years old. I did not want to destroy the stone with carvings but work with the beauty of the stone. On this piece I carved fish in the water, along with two flowers.
